A Short Introduction about Panackamattam Kudumbam

Praise be to the Triune God.

Relying on the Grace of God Almighty, and the intercession of all our Saints and Fathers, we have great joy in bringing out this brief history of our family PANACKAMATTAM KUDUMBAM.

Our efforts and extensive enquiries to consolidate the complete and comprehensive history of our ancient family, have revealed that about 600 households belonging to various branches and sub-branches of the original Panakamattam family exist today. Needless to say, each of these house holds is an integral part of the original family. No one is nobler or smaller than the other. All are descendents of the same family. In the flow of time, the members needed to move and spread out, travel to different places and settle down. In several cases, they established their house holds with a new identity, with the name of the purayidam or plot of land they obtained to build their houses.In this sense, several sub families which moved out to different places are known today by a different household name, but are in truth, members of the Panackamattom family. It is truly gratifying to note that in several countries, we are able to locate at least a few members of the Panackamattam family. Let us thank God for the same.

There are about 600 house holds belonging to Panackamattam family within Kerala itself. We thank God that the history of the family goes back to several centuries. That such a large number of house holds could grow and flourish in the Christian faith and be there until today, living in peace and harmony in the society is a living testimony to the fact that the ancestors of our family embraced the Christian faith in the early centuries itself and remained true to the faith in letter and spirit. May the Blessings of the Apostle St. Thomas, who proclaimed “ My Lord and my God” , who brought the Christian faith to our country, be upon our family and all households under this umbrella.

We have started a website of our family to provide much more details about the members and their ancestors, which will be interesting to the new generation and keep them well aware about this ancient family in the years to come.
